They Hate Their Own Blood

Moses chapter 7 records a conversation between Enoch and GOD the Father. Enoch sees GOD weeping and asks why. In verse 33 GOD responds with his reasons, with the last one being the title of this post: "...they hate their own blood." I realize that scripture can have meanings on multiple levels. On a basic level GOD could be commenting on the nature of people on this planet to participate in wars. It has been several thousands years of recorded history and we still do not learn the lesson that no one really wins a war.  Since reading Amberli Peterson's new book about abortion in the Book of Mormon another reason for the flood occurred to me. The idea that GOD could also be referring to mankind's propensity to attempt to avoid accountability and kill unborn children.  Perhaps the antediluvians were using abortion the way modern people do to avoid having to be responsible for the results of sexual activity. I can think of no better reason for our Heavenly Mother to give

Grant Hardy's Annotated Book of Mormon

Grant Hardy's latest book is the finest version of the Book of Mormon ever published. Royal Skousen's Earliest Text of the Book of Mormon  is a close second. I am pretty sure I have read almost every major text about the BOM.  I am also certain that the Book of Mormon is actual scripture . That does not mean that the Mormon church is true. I have already posted a piece about the numerous ways modern Mormonism does not even come close to the theology of its founding text.  I would advise anyone to get the Kindle version (15 bucks) rather than the Hardback (37) because of the small font size in the later. You can obviously save 22 dollars as well. The Kindle version allows you to read Hardy's outstanding and salient comments for each chapter without using a magnifying glass or microscope.  The Oxford Annotated Book of Mormon,  is Hardy's magnum opus. This is potentially arguable because his Reader's Guide to the Book of Mormon  is also phenomenal. Grant knows more a

Do As I Say, Not As I Do

I heard today of the passing of Russel Ballard at age 95. I looked him up and learned he served from 1948-1950 in the London England Mission. Good for him. He had 7 children, so kudos to his wife. Then I decided to look up current LDS president Russel Nelson. I discovered he has not served an LDS mission. You have to be kidding me!  The supposed leader of the Utah Mormons never served a mission? The 4-5 million truly active Mormons are supposed to look up to this selfish knucklehead? Mormon parents are supposed to send their teenage children out into harm's way, when this poser could not take any time away from his goal to be a doctor? The sheer audacity of this fool to tell other good-hearted people what to do is astounding. I wonder how he is going to feel when he meets Paul or Alma the Younger.  He will not be rewarded at the same level of those 2 missionary greats. Even Jonah got his act together after his near fish-food experience and preached to the people of Nineveh. "R

Satan's Real Plan

For roughy 50 years I was taught by my LDS teachers and leaders that Satan wanted to force all of us to do the right thing in his misguided plan to save humanity and steal GOD's honor. His plan was simply one of coercion.  That was not his plan. Who the heck would go along with such nonsense? People agreeing to be slaves? Not a chance in outer darkness. Moses 4 verse 3   Most High God speaking; "...Satan rebelled against me, and sought to destroy the agency of man..." What Satan attempted to do was present a plan where agency (aka accountability) had no place in this life. In essence his idea was to allow us to do whatever we wanted without consequences.  Now, that is an attractive plan. I work with lazy teenagers, and they are constantly trying to avoid  consequences. Satan's plan appealed to the weak spirits. Some of them were even foolish enough to refuse to repent in the life before this one. They have followed him straight to a hell that never ends. Moses 4:3 cou

This is jstcommentary.blogspot.com 2.0

I am technologically illiterate and cannot sign back in to my original blog jstcommentary.blogspot.com  I am forced to start a new blog josephsmith22.blogspot.com.  Josephsmith2 was taken? I will have to check that site out. I keep finding things in the Book of Mormon that the modern LDS church does not adhere to. The old ones I have previously mention (although I am nearing 60 and semi-demented) so maybe I have not. 1. Polygamy is denounced in the book of Jacob. 2. Wine is required by JESUS to be used for the sacrament. 3. Priesthood offices are Priests and Teachers with one person at a time acting as High Priest. 4. Little children does not mean infants. Parents are required according to Mormon's letter to Moroni to repent and be baptized. I do not know of many 8 year old that are parents. 5. One temple at a time. 6. No mention of weird Masonic rituals in the book containing the fullness of the Gospel. 7. Prophets actually talk to JESUS. 8. Apostles must have JESUS lay his hands
